ADHD can make everyday life feel harder than it looks
Adult ADHD is not just about being distracted. It can affect focus, time management, memory, emotional regulation, motivation, follow-through, relationships, work, school, and the ability to keep up with daily responsibilities.
When ADHD is misunderstood, it can leave you feeling lazy, inconsistent, too sensitive, or like you are always falling behind. You are not broken. With the right support, you can better understand how your brain works and build strategies that feel realistic for your life.
AT COLIBRI NEUROWELLNESS, WE SUPPORT ADULTS WITH ADHD THROUGH NEURO-AFFIRMING THERAPY, COACHING, PRACTICAL TOOLS, AND COMPASSIONATE CARE.

How ADHD Therapy & Coaching Helps
Work With Your Brain, Not Against It
Understand ADHD patterns
Explore how ADHD shows up for you, including focus, motivation, time, memory, emotions, sensory needs, relationships, work, school, and daily routines.
Enhance Focus & Attention
We can help you develop targeted strategies to manage external distractions and internal drift. By structuring your environment and utilizing specialized focusing techniques, you can sustain attention on tedious or complex tasks for longer periods.
Recover From & Prevent Burnout
ADHD therapy and coaching can help you identify the warning signs of cognitive exhaustion and set realistic boundaries. By learning to manage your unique energy reserves and pace yourself, you can recover from chronic burnout and build a sustainable lifestyle.
Simplifying Decision-Making
Your ADHD therapist or coach can help you work on minimizing daily decision fatigue by streamlining your choices, establishing low-friction habits, and creating structured routines. This will reduce the cognitive load of everyday life, leaving you with more mental energy for the things that matter.
Improve Working Memory
Rather than relying on mental effort alone to remember details, ADHD therapy or coaching can help you implement external “brain backups.” We can help you establish reliable methods for tracking tasks, appointments, and belongings, significantly reducing the stress of forgotten commitments.
Time Management & Organization
ADHD coaching or therapy provides concrete, brain-friendly strategies to combat time blindness and disorganization. Instead of fighting against yourself, you will learn to design personalized scheduling systems, estimate time accurately, and build structured routines that actually stick.
Healing Shame & Ending the Cycle of Masking
Years of undiagnosed or unmanaged ADHD might leave you feeling a sense of shame, inadequacy, and exhaustion from trying to blend in. ADHD therapy and coaching offers a safe space to process these emotions, dismantle negative self-talk, and transition from exhausting “masking” to authentic self-acceptance.
Create Realistic Strategies
Instead of trying to force “neurotypical” advice onto an ADHD brain, we can help you learn realistic strategies that work with your unique cognitive style. Your ADHD therapist or coach can help you develop practical, low-friction approaches for daily tasks that feel achievable rather than overwhelming.
Strengthen Self-Trust & Confidence
Years of missed goals and self-criticism can severely erode your self-trust. Through ADHD therapy and coaching, we can help you learn to rebuild confidence in your own reliability, honour your commitments to yourself, and recognize your strengths.
Overcome Procrastination
ADHD therapy and coaching help dismantle the anxiety-procrastination cycle. By breaking large, overwhelming projects into dopamine-friendly micro-steps, you will learn how to bypass the mental block of starting tasks without relying on last-minute panic.
Reduce Anxiety & Racing Thoughts
Therapeutic interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness, can teach you how to self-regulate and quiet a hyperactive mind. Together with your ADHD therapist or coach, you will develop tools to manage inner restlessness, reduce chronic stress, and transition into states of genuine relaxation.
Relationships & Communication
ADHD can accidentally lead to missed social cues, impulsive speech, or forgotten promises, straining personal and professional connections. ADHD therapy or coaching can help you develop active communication strategies and emotional regulation tools to foster healthier, more resilient relationships.

How ADHD Therapy & Coaching Works
We use a collaborative, neuro-affirming approach that is personalized to your goals, needs, strengths, and daily life.
Get to Know Your Unique Brain
Your therapist or coach will begin by mapping your personal ADHD profile, identifying your specific challenges, strengths, and cognitive patterns. Understanding how your brain operates is the first step toward self-compassion and targeted growth.
Pinpoint Your Main Challenges
Together, we explore what feels hardest right now and what you want to feel more manageable. This may include task initiation, planning, time management, organization, emotional overwhelm, communication, or recovery from burnout.
Set Goals That Matter
Your therapist or coach will help you define clear, realistic, and highly personalized goals. Whether you want to improve career performance, stabilize your home life, or reduce daily anxiety, we will establish a roadmap tailored to your priorities.
Build Practical Strategies
Therapy and coaching may include executive functioning tools, nervous system support, CBT-informed strategies, emotional regulation skills, routines, reminders, environmental supports, and self-compassion practices.
Heal the Emotional Side of ADHD
Practice Everyday Skills
Therapy and coaching sessions are practical and action-oriented. We don’t just talk about change; we can help you actively practice emotional regulation techniques, decision-making skills, and focus-enhancing tools that you can immediately apply to your daily life.
Troubleshoot Setbacks or Obstacles
When a new routine or strategy doesn’t work, we don’t view it as a failure. Instead, your therapist or coach can help you look at any setbacks or obstacles without judgment and adjust the approach so it fits your life better.
Cebrate Your Progress
Your therapist or coach will take the time to recognize and celebrate your wins, no matter how small. Acknowledging your progress will help reinforce positive habits, builds momentum, and restore your self-trust and confidence.

FAQs About ADHD Therapy & Coaching
What is the difference between ADHD Therapy and ADHD Coaching?
Therapy often focuses on emotions, self-understanding, anxiety, burnout, shame, relationships, and mental health.
Coaching is often more practical and strategy-based, supporting routines, planning, organization, follow-through, and executive functioning. Many adults benefit from both.
Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to start?
No. You do not need a formal ADHD diagnosis to reach out for support. If you relate to ADHD traits or executive functioning challenges, therapy or coaching may still help you understand your needs and build practical tools.
Can ADHD therapy help with anxiety or burnout?
Yes. ADHD can overlap with anxiety, perfectionism, masking, sensory overwhelm, and burnout. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and support your nervous system, emotions, boundaries, and self-trust.
Is ADHD coaching only about productivity?
No. ADHD coaching is not about forcing you to do more. It is about helping you create systems that are realistic, sustainable, and supportive of how your brain works.
Do you offer ADHD support online?
Yes. ADHD therapy and coaching may be available in person for clients in Kitchener-Waterloo and online across Ontario, depending on clinician fit and availability.
Are College and University Students covered for ADHD therapy or coaching?
Yes. If you have a health insurance plan through your college or university, this often covers therapy and counselling services with Registered Psychotherapists, Registered Social Workers, and Clinical Psychologists.
However it is always best to confirm with your college or university regarding your coverage details as the coverage amounts are subject to change.
For example, as of the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years:
- Wilfred Laurier University (WLU): Undergraduate students covered under the StudentCare health plan are eligible for 80% coverage per visit up to a maximum of $800 per policy year.
- University of Waterloo (UW): Undergraduate students covered under the WUSA StudentCare health plan are eligible for 80% coverage per visit up to a maximum of $1,250 per policy year. Graduate students under the GSA plan also have coverage up to $1,250 per year at 80% per visit.
